As published by WM Northwest in “WM JMK Fibers Recycling Facility,” JMK Fibers is a Tacoma material recovery facility at the Port of Tacoma that uses advanced sorting technology and AI-powered robotics to increase processing capacity and recover more recyclables.
The facility is described as having on-site rail capacity and 24 shipping/receiving docks, positioned for outbound transport to end markets. A published fact sheet lists processing capacity of up to 180,000 tons per year and equipment including optical scanners, magnets, an eddy current separator for aluminum, mechanical screens, multiple balers, and an air separator for glass, all working through an interconnected conveyor-based sorting system; the City of Tacoma also notes recyclables are sorted, baled, sold, and processed into new products.
